Cloud Series

There are many children's books about clouds and it doesn't really interest me until I was perusing the photographs I had taken for the last four years. Though I like shooting nature and landscapes, the clouds that became part of those landscapes also give stories of their own.  It reminds me of books such as It Looked Like Spilt Milk or The Cloud Book that I used to read in class.

Clouds are like people.  They come in different shapes and sizes yet they are all made of tiny droplets of water or ice crystals.  Clouds are identified by where they are found in the sky making names for themselves as high clouds, middle clouds and fog.  They also get their names because of their shapes.

Just like clouds, our names are true to ourselves and become our trademarks. That we shouldn't be named or called because of our size or shape, nor by the status we hold in life.  We are all alike though different in many aspects.  Even with all the disparities, we are all flesh and blood, and tiny droplets in this big universe of ours.

  1. I often took great interests to admire at the clouds since I was young. I thought they looked soft and light like cotton or heavens. Some times faces like deities or watchful demons appeared on the clouds to tell the beings something. I wished I had taken beautiful photos like you. You are so imaginative!

  2. Same here as I look at clouds and create stories in my mind when I was young. And even up to now, I do. However, my post looks at clouds in a metaphorical way, as I see them like people. People I have met along the way, some being still around and others drifted by the wind. I also equate their presence to the differing moods of people. I also look at them like how they influence me as a person. Many stories, many interpretations and many facets, all because of clouds.

  4. Your words are very encouraging. I don't just snap a photo. I usually look at the subject and then focus on what interests me. Luckily, I get nice ones. Have a great week and thank you once again.

  5. We usually study clouds sir Jo as part of our Meteorology course to determine whether the prevailing conditions are good for sailing. Most of the clouds in your photos are alto-cumulus or middle lying cumulus clouds. They are usually indication of good weather. :)

Setting the technicalities aside, seeing clouds in a different perspective enable us to look at them to be more than lumps of water droplets floating in the air. As a child and even now, I can still see figures of things when I look at them.

  6. So technical but very informative. And I had been eyeing alto and middle lying the whole time, they just do not know, ha,ha,ha.

Aside from science, art comes in and we, being as creative as we could be, interpret what we see in many ways.

Thanks for the info, Mr, Froi!

  7. We are all but a grain of sand in this vast universe, yet equally important and relevant.

I cannot remember the Adarna storybook I used before about water cycle, but it is one of those many stories the kids remember best.

Yes to white, fluffy and look so yummy clouds!

  8. Hungry? yccos?

True, a grain of sand in this vast universe. Some on top, some at the bottom. Some mixed with other colours. Some white, some dark. Some hot and some cold. All have their importance.

I wish I had my Adarna storybooks here but I gave them away many years ago, :(

  11. Hi Agnes,

It's simply hot right now and we need some clouds over Asia to help us with this kind of weather. For the meantime, enjoy before all the rain comes after summer.

  12. A good choice blue, since some of the best things in life are actually free. I also take some time to just look up and do nothing, but also imagine that I will be there to be with the people I love most.

  17. Hi Cristine,

What a great way to de-stress, isn't it? I will be taking more cloud pictures as I travel but for the meantime, the clouds above my house will do.

  18. Of course Steve,

Without clouds, where will the rain be? And the heat from the sun will burn us. But metaphorically speaking, without clouds, it's an empty feeling, the sky being clear and lifeless.

  19. Very true indeed Miklos,

No two clouds are the same and that they can be captured in different angles from different positions and still look different. The best thing about clouds is that they are good models. They stay for a bit until spread and pushed by the wind.

  27. Interesting take on clouds.

I must admit I seldom pay attention to clouds.lol. Unless it is significantly interesting or annoyingly distracting, esp when watching sunset. :)

  28. Hi Pepe,

I have a feeling you love sunsets. I believe that the sunset and the appearance of clouds bring forth a magnificent ray of colours along the horizon. I took the photos and created this post on a metaphorical level to feature people. Have a great day!
