Pass It Forward

It was at this time of the year when I posted something about being lucky.  I was lucky because I was given a gift to travel to Japan last summer.  This year, it is different.  Since I already spent the monetary gift I got by purchasing myself a plane ticket when I attended a teaching conference in Singapore, I am staying in Thailand for a longer period during my summer break.  It gives me some time to do nothing but tend the garden.

Since I celebrated my teaching anniversary this month, I also got myself something to reward myself of my hard work.  It wasn't a trip to visit another part of the globe but it had something to do with travelling as well.  It is parked in the garage.

With the quietness of my homestay, I wanted to do something different in order to share the things I have.  Apart from writing the entry on Restoring Faith, I decided to walk around and give something to random people on the streets of Bangkok.  I do not have a lot since I already spent it on something grand but I can still give a part of what I have so as I can do something worthy.

If I could help one or two persons then it is far better than thinking of helping everybody which is an impossibility.  An act of kindness to a few people creates a cycle of good deeds.  And even if I have no material things to share, a smile or some words of encouragement to my friends are priceless.  Have you done your share today?

  1. hmmm..... did you get yourself new wheels for more travel opportunities? Hihihi..

It feels good to freely give without asking anything in return :) Plus, the more you give, the more you receive :D :D

  3. Hello sir Jo :)

Just a smile can brighten someone's day. It makes the person feel that somebody loves and believes in him.

  4. Hi Cher Kat,

Out of the blue, I decided to be in awe by giving something in return. Since I am in Bangkok for most of my summer, I thought of doing something different, thus the sharing. Hopefully, I could stay at peace with myself even with troubles around me.

  5. Thank you bluedreamer. I am grateful for many things and saying thank you is not enough so I need to do some actions. God bless you too!

  6. Hi Fiel,

I remember a post I had during Valentine's Day about how a smile can warm the hearts of people. I am often reminded by that small gesture. So here is one for you :)

  7. That's so nice of you, Jon.

    Today I read on Facebook,

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." -Dalai Lama.

  8. Sabi nga sir Jo, mapalad ang nagbibigay kaysa tumatanggap. :)

  9. Everything we do creates a ripple effect. A single good deed will cause another good deed, which later on may come back to you. The same goes as well for bad deeds. I guess we call that, uhm, karma?

"Parked in the garage"? Tama ba naiisip ko? Tara, roadtrip na! :D

  10. Well said Ms. Lili. There are just so very few who exhibit a good heart so we better be one example for others to emulate.

    Little things make me happy!

  12. I believe in ripples, as a metaphor for doing good. Even with small things, gestures, or the visits from friends through blogging. I remain faithful to those who are but I cannot let them stay if they don't want to. And I will continue to be nice to them.

Roadtrip, sige saan? Sumama ka na kasi!

  13. One of these days, I will write again. :)

Tsaka di rin ako pwede talaga kasi I'm in the middle of a career change right now, so madaming aasikasuhin. I'll just meet you after your trip to Palawan with Babykat. Hehe
