Meeting Ms. Balut

The Mall of Asia Philippines is one huge mall and on that particular Sunday, the 21st of July, it was teeming with people. It was a crowded place what with families enjoying their walk and food, teens with their friends jubilantly joking and laughing and lovebirds holding hands and smiling unmindful of strangers around them.

While waiting, I caught a glimpse of what was going on one of the halls. It was Miss World Philippines general screening. There were mostly men surrounding the vicinity of the venue holding their cameras and mobile phones to take photographs. I was just there to look and they are lovely to look at. I was actually mentally asking myself what if I have a beauty queen as a companion, would it change my life?

Should it be candidate one, two or three, or should be it all of them? Anyway, dreaming is free and so is waking up from all these woman watching. I have a goal that day and that is to meet someone I admire in the blogging world.

And there she was, the Ms. Balut everybody's been talking about, in the flesh, I mean wearing her shirt and shorts, right before my eyes. I was actually forewarned that she hides herself through her dark glasses. After an exchange of some formal greetings, she escorted me to a coffee shop so that we can have some time to know each other, blind date style.

Ms. Balut is an epitome of talent and beauty (sipsip lungs!) When she spoke about herself and her work, I couldn't but be a good listener as she has volumes of knowledge to share. I told her that it was her writing style that made me a fan of her blog. She is very descriptive and as I read her many posts, I cannot but place the events and characters in my mind so vividly because she made them so clear with her words. 

One thing that stuck in my mind was when she mentioned about teaching as Ms. Balut was also in the education field. That teaching is not just a classroom matter, that it is ever evolving. As a teacher, our work can be defined by our ethics of patience and skills thus, we can work in many sectors of society. Being a teacher is also akin to being a trainer in a multinational company. Our many talents as a teacher and as a person build different persona significantly developing our core as a contributing member of the world we live in. In other words, we are great!

Meeting Ms. Balut is like winning a pageant though I was the one taking the crown and scepter. The crown being the wisdom of her thoughts and the scepter as her belief in me as a blogger. She may not be Ms. World but she can be the world to many.
