I used the image of a rainbow flower as part of our study on raindrops. The children looked at the projected image on the wall and gave their own interpretation by illustrating their own flower on a piece of blank paper. The images were then transferred on canvas and the children chose the paints to mix to highlight the flowers they created. The raindrops are not visible but they are there.
The following art works were done by three different ages, from the young fours to the older fives. I arranged the images from the youngest member of my vertical class to the oldest. Enjoy their perspectives and how their interpretations show the differences among ages and outlook in art. One is painted by a boy, can you guess which one? The other two boys in my summer class did not do flowers, they opted for the branches with raindrops.

hmn... Drawing #2 is the one drawn by a boy?
ReplyDeletesome looks like lollipops and ice cream but they are sooo cute :)
Hi Balut, I can see that you interpret them differently as well. Will get back to you with the answer. :)
ReplyDeleteAt kahit anong anggulo, maganda pa ding tignan.
ReplyDeleteFruit or vegetable printing to use the pattern of the material and create a new art piece. Naalala ko din yan but never tried sa school. Para sa akin kasi, fruits and vegetables are for eating:) kaya hindi ko ini encourage ang mag print or any art works using food.
May munggo art pa kami noon, bigas, macaroni atbp.
DeleteHmmm... I believe art #4 yung drawn by a boy :D
May future talaga sila :D
Thanks Fiel. Magandang theraphy ang art. It calms the children. Nung nagpipinta sila may mga comments din such as I like doing this, my mom will be happy to see this, I'm putting this in my bedroom.
DeleteI think the last one's drawn by a boy. Hula hoops lang! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice artworks! Galing ng mga kids! :)
Hello Pao. Thanks at magaling kasi yung guro. Mayabang lang, hahaha. Iba iba ang approach depending on the age. Masakit sa bangs.
Deletenice, it all looks great, eto ung maganda sa mga bata ee creative hmm
DeleteMs. Balut wins. It's number 2.
Magaling yung mga kids kasi nga... hahaha, makulit lang me. Naka vacation mode.
Deletethe joy of being an art teacher.
ReplyDeleteOla Senyor. Sabihn ko sa kanila if I see them again. Matutuwa yung mga yun. Try mo mag pinta, very relaxing, better than coffee.
ReplyDeleteHello Jep. So we try many techniques at nai share ko lang naman differences between 3 to 5.
ReplyDeletehmmm.. the third pic is the one drawn by a boy? .... at kapag gawa ng bata, kahit anong gulo pa nyan, maganda pa din tignan... hehe....
ReplyDeleteThe second one yccos is the one painted by a boy. Kahit nga guhit guhit lang yan, i frame, maganda na. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jonathan, cool post !
ReplyDeleteSuch activities will surely help the tiny tots to become creative in life. You are a great teacher !
Thank you so much for the comment on my blog about the post - Remembering Jim Kelly ! He was a legend. Remember the buzz those great men created 40 years ago in Asia !
Hello Rajiv,
ReplyDeleteNot just creative, critical thinkers as well :)
Yes, I do since I am a Bruce Lee fan as well then Jackie Chan because of his humour.
Ayie! I won I won!
ReplyDeleteLet me share why I guess/answered it correctly...
It's the most different among the drawings. It is bigger, bolder but it lacks details. Details = the "black dots" which I assume represents the rain drops. Boys/Men are known not to be very keen on details unlike girls/women ;)
THANKS Jonathan! Just looking at these artworks is priceless ;)
I thought that you were able to guess it because you are a mom, basing your experience with your son. May mas malalim na rason pa pala. Very good interpretation, bow!
ReplyDeleteTaga-Manila ka ba? I am visiting so I can personally hand you your prize. Prize daw oh, anong gusto mo from Bangkok? Yung magaan lang, you have until Friday to tell me.
Partly yes. But I don't usually base it with my son. He is not a typical boy. He is very keen to details sometimes to the point of my annoyance. LOL but true.
ReplyDeleteAaw that's sweet! Yes I'm from Manila. It would be fun meeting you though sometimes mahirap akong hagilapin ha ha.
Those paintings are so adorable:)
ReplyDeleteThey are lucky having you as their teacher:)
Hi Ms. Joy,
ReplyDeleteSobrang late ng reply ko. Thank you po.
